GAMLEBY YACHTVARV

1959 förvärvade familjen Svennefalk f.d. Tore Holms Yachtvarv i Gamleby, ett mycket anrikt båtvarv som tyvärr vid denna tidpunkt låg nedlagt. En ny verksamhet under namnet GAMLEBY YACHTVARV startades och fram till 1970 serietillverkades 100-tals motorbåtar.

I egen regi konstruerades Capri Cabin och Lill-Saxaren medan Harry Becker stod bakom konstruktionen på bl.a. Saxaren . Även ett flertal segelbåtar byggdes där Tore Holm kontrakterades för att utföra ritningarna, där bland R6:an May Be IX 1960.

Nu är det klart att Tore Holms ursprungliga J Class design från 1937 kommer att byggas i Holland och färdigställas på Vitters Shipyard. Läs mer här..

SVEA is now in the SEA

Tore Holm J Class Yacht 1937 halfhull now "Svea"

 

Its great! Finally the project is in the sea! Svea is now ready and finalized by the Vitters shipyard and will probably be competing, by its new American owner, in the Americas Cup J Class race in Bermuda 2017.

In the picture above It is the original half hull of ”Svea” originated from Tore Holm himself 1937. The inscriptions on the back gives some facts about the people involved, Like Axel Wenner-Gren who was the major financing partner at the time for this project. Sven Sahlén who was aiming to be the captain of this ship in the first Swedish engagement in Americas Cup.
